Mr. Ferranti, at his retirement, had over 44 years of experience specializing in traffic engineering and transportation planning. As founder and Principal Transportation Engineer for SRF Associates, Stephen helped develop numerous multi-modal transportation plans and strategies for communities throughout Upstate New York. He has led and assisted in the development of pedestrian safety studies; transportation master plans; access management plans; Safe Routes to School Action Plans; traffic calming plans for cities, villages, and town in the Western New York/Finger Lakes Region. He performed and supervised hundreds of Traffic Impact Studies and Traffic Mitigation Plans for all types of developments for communities. Stephen developed land use and arterial management plans and strategies that have gained both state-wide and national recognition as “Best Practices” in the field of arterial and access management. He served municipalities as the Traffic Consultant of choice for many communities in Western and Southern New York. Stephen was known as a leading practitioner and advocate for advancing the linkage among transportation, land use, urban design and health.
